Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension, the obverse with a leftward-facing profile of King John of Saxony, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with an inscription of “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN D. GELUNGENE RETTUNGSWERK IM STEINBRÜCHE BEI SCHMILKA 26-27 JAN 1862” (“IN COMMEMORATION OF SUCCESSFUL RESCUE WORK IN THE SCHMILKA AVALANCHE 25-27 JAN 1862”, the obverse maker marked “C. ULBRICHT”, measuring 35.57 mm, weighing 22.5 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
