Saxony, Kingdom. An Honour Cross for Volunteer Nurses 1914/1917

(Erinnerungskreuz für freiwillige Krankenpflege in Kriege). Instituted on 6 March 1871. Constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, consisting of a cross pattée, with laurel and oak leaf branches through the quadrants, the obverse with a central monogram of Friedrich August inside a blue enamelled ring, the reverse with central dates 1914/1917, unmarked, measuring 27.45 mm (w) x 32.64 mm (h), on loop for suspension from its period original bow-tie ribbon, with horizontal pinback, and in extremely fine condition.
