A likely one-of-a-kind wearable cross to commemorate peace declared on February 15th, 1763 between Austria, Prussia, and Saxony. It consists of two pieces; a bronze frame and a white enamel core; the obverse is inscribed “Es blühet unser Glück durch Friedrichs weise That” (German - May our luck blossom through Friedrich’s wise deeds), with “Hubertburg” within a green laurel wreath; the reverse inscribed “Weil er zu Hubertsburg uns Ruh gestiftet hat” (German - Because he bestowed peace among us at Hubertsburg”, with the “15er Febr. 1763” within a green laurel wreath; with an integrated loop on the 12 o’clock arm; measuring 29.50 mm (w) x 30.63 mm (h); weighing 9.9 grams; with moderate oxidation on the frame from age giving it a greenish hue, as well as a moderate chip in the enamels on the reverse and hairline cracks; in as found condition.
Footnote: This is the only known example of a 1763 Commemorative Cross awarded to participants of the Treaty of Hubertsburg, ending the Third Selisian War between Austria, Prussia, and Saxony, which, together with the Treaty of Paris signed five days earlier, marked the end of the Seven Years’ War.
