Saxony, Kingdom. A Civil Merit Order with Swords, Miniature Version
(Zivilverdienstorden mit Schwertern Miniatur). Instituted 7 June 1815 by Friedrich Augustus I. Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, on loop for suspension, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, the obverse with a central white enameled medallion bearing a Saxon coat of arms circumscribed by an inscription of “FRIED. AUG. K. V. SACHSEN D. 7.6.1815”, the reverse with a central white enameled medallion bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST UND TREUE” (“FOR MERIT AND LOYALTY”), with crossed swords between the centre, unmarked, measuring 17.28 mm (w) x 17.57 mm (h), weighing 2.3 grams, in extremely fine condition.
