Saxony, Kingdom. An Albrecht Order, Commander's Badge with Swords & Crown, c.1914
(Albrechtsorden Komturkreuz mit Schwertern). 1879-1918 Issue. A Latin cross constructed of gilded silver and enamel, the obverse centre bears the right-facing portrait of Herzog Albrecht on awhite enamel field encompassed by a blue enamel border inscribed with “ALBERTUS ANIMOSUS” (ALBERT THE MERCIFUL) with arabesque detailing at the bottom, the arms of the cross are of white enamel, two upwards facing crossed swords lay in the quadrants between the arms superimposed over a green enamel oak leaf wreath, the reverse centre bears the coat of arms of Saxony on a white enamel field encompassed by a blue enamel border with arabesques at the top and inscribed at the bottom with “1850”, a hollow swivel crown suspension at the top with a horizontal suspension ring with an elongated suspension, unmarked, measuring 52.50 mm (w) x 89.02 mm (h), weighing 60.5 grams, with green and white striped neck ribbon, extremely fine.
