(Albrechtsorden Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse, mit Krone und Schwerter). Instituted 31 December 1850 by King Friedrich August II. Second Model 1876-1918 “Young Portrait Type.” (1903-1918). In silver gilt, consisting of a white-enameled Latin cross with green enameled laurels in each quadrant as well as crossed swords, centre obverse in white enamel featuring the right-facing head of Duke Albrecht in Gold, surrounded by a light blue enameled ring with a silver gilt inlaid inscription “ALBERTUS ANIMOSUS” (“Albert the Bold”), bottom completed with two golden arabesques, separated by a small six-pointed golden star, reverse with a crowned royal coat of arms in gilt, surrounded by a blue enameled ring dated “1850,” along with arabesques, maker mark “S” at the six o-clock arm denoting G.A. Scharffenberg, measuring 37.97 mm (w) x 56.90 mm (h - inclusive of Imperial Crown with horizontally pierced ball suspension adorned by cross); weighing 28.8 grams, includes mid 20th century ribbon, with light flaking of the green enamels, and in overall extremely fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
