Saxony, Kingdom. A Military Order of St. Henry, Commander's Star, c.1914
(Militär St. Heinrichs-Orden, Bruststern zum Kommandeurkreuz). Issued 1807-1918. A silver gilt eight-pointed star; the obverse with a central off-white enameled medallion depicting St. Henry, surrounded by a ring of blue enamels, inscribed “VIRTUTI IN BELLO” (Latin - Valor at War); the reverse plain, with a vertical pinback, a barrel hinge, and a round wire catch; marked “Osang” for “G.H. Osang, Dresden” on the pin; an unusual smaller size - measuring 75.77 mm (w) x 75.42 mm (h); weighing 66.4 grams; with previous enamel repair on the blue enamels; in overall better than very fine condition.
