Saxony, Kingdom. A Military Order of St. Henry, Silver Medal with Case by C.E. Kunath, c. 1915
(Medaille des Militär-St.Heinrichs-Ordens in Silber mit Etui). Instituted 23 December 1829 by King Anton. (1848-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing profile of King Friedrich August, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “VERDIENST UM DAS VATERLAND” (“SERVICE TO THE FATHERLAND”), within a circular laurel leaf wreath joined together at the bottom by cannons and standards, unmarked, measuring 35.84 mm in diameter, weighing 20.7 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the lid bearing the award name and class in embossed and gilded lettering, topped by crossed swords, the interior with a padded paper lid liner and depressed purple velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal snap button, the base maker marked “C.E. KUNATH, DRESDEN”, measuring 58 mm (w) x 78 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
