Schaumburg-Lippe, Principality. A Military Merit Medal
(Militärverdienstmedaille). Instituted 30 May 1850 by Prince Georg Wilhelm; renewed 1870 by Prince Adolph Georg. (1870-1871 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with clasp, the obverse bearing a central monogram of Prince Georg Wilhelm, situated within a circular laurel leaf wreath, the reverse bearing a central inscription of “FÜR MILITAIR VERDIENST” (“FOR MILITARY MERIT”), situated within a circular laurel leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 30.34 mm in diameter, weighing 17.9 grams (inclusive of ribbon and clasp), the ribbon has been stitched in place backwards, in near extremely fine condition.
