Waldeck, Principality. A Silver Medal of Merit with Swords, c.1914
(Silberne Verdienstmedaille mit Schwertern). Instituted on 26 September 1878 by Prince George Victor. A round medal constructed of silver, the obverse shows the monogram GV (Georg Viktor) in Fraktur style under a ducal crown, the reverse centre presents the inscription “FÜR VERDIENST,” crossed silver swords, measuring 31.43 mm, hang between the medallion and eyelet, silver hallmark of a star stamped on top outer edge, the medal measures 30.39 mm in diameter, weighs 13.3 g, on ring for suspension from period original white ribbon edged in yellow, red, and black lines, and in fine condition.
