Waldeck, Principality. A Silver Medal of Merit with Swords, c.1915

(Silberne Verdienstmedaille mit Schwertern). Instituted 26 September 1878 by Prince Georg Victor. (1915-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from a clasp of crossed swords, in turn on a suspension loop with its period original ribbon, the obverse of the medal featuring a monogram of Prince Georg Victor, the reverse with an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST”, unmarked, the medal measuring 30.32 mm in diameter, the swords measuring 31.66 mm (w) x 11.78 mm (h), with a total weight of 15.6 grams, age-appropriate tarnishing evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
