Waldeck, Principality. A Merit Order Cross, Miniature II Class c.1895
(Verdienstmedaille II. Klasse). Instituted 3.7.1857 by Duke George Victor. (1890-1896 issue). A silver gilt Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, obverse with an eight-pointed black enameled star containing a white enameled medallion in the center bearing a red enameled “Anchor Cross of Pyrmont”, reverse with a silver gilt center medallion, inscribed “FÜR VERDIENST” ("FOR MERIT") in raised lettering, measuring 15.35 mm (w) x 16.02 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring) and weighing 1.9 grams, with minor enamel loss, remains near very fine.
