Waldeck, Principality. A Silver Civil Service Merit Medal
                (Silberne Verdienstmedaille für Zivilverdienste). Instituted 26 September 1878 by Prince Georg Victor. (1878-1899 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and crowned monogram of Prince Georg Victor, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST” (“FOR MERIT”), unmarked, measuring 29.87 mm in diameter, weighing 12.3 grams (inclusive of ribbon), with age-appropriate tarnishing evident, in overall better than very fine condition.
