Württemberg, Kingdom. A Pickelhaube Plate
(Württemberg Helmemblem). Constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse consisting of a central crowned Württemberg coat of arms, overlaid by a Cross Pattée, flanked by a deer and lion rampant, and situated above a banner bearing an inscription of “FURCHTLOS UND TREW” (“FEARLESS AND LOYAL”), the reverse retaining one of two threaded screw posts with a washer and backplate, unmarked, measuring 11.5 cm (w) x 10.5 cm (h), demonstrating moderate loss of finish in addition to the loss of one screwpost and with some further soldering visible from period repairs, in very fine condition.
