Württemberg, Kingdom. A Wilhelm Cross for Merit in War
(Wilhelmskreuz für Kriegsverdienste). Instituted 13 September 1915 by King Wilhelm II. (1915-1918 issue). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with a central wreathed monogram of King Wilhelm II, the six o’clock arm with a date of “1915”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with a central wreathed inscription of “KRIEGS VERDIENST” (“WAR MERIT”), unmarked, measuring 44.00 mm (w) x 48.49 mm (h), weighing 27.5 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
