(Silbernes Verdienstkreuz). Instituted 2 July 1900 by King Wilhelm II. (1900-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse with a central monogram of King Wilhelm II, the reverse with a central inscription of “VERDIENST” (“MERIT”), unmarked, measuring 31.45 mm (w) x 36.45 mm (h), weighing 8.8 grams, in better than very fine condition.
