Württemberg, Duchy. An Official Ducal Document Addressing Supply Shortages, 1745
The author of the document is Carl Eugen, Duke of Württemberg (1728-1793). It is addressed to a man named Christoph Ulrich Moser in Ederheim, in all likelihood a forestry official or similar civil servant, and dated to Stuttgart on October 11, 1745. The signature is illegible. The duke addresses a shortage of (fire) wood and decrees that to prevent this in the future, certain trees are to be planted in certain areas, especially near rivers so as to maintain the banks as an added benefit. Measuring 216 mm (w) x 354 mm (h), presenting multiple folding creases, some fraying of the edges, and several minor rips, remains fine.
