(Militär-Verdienstorden Ritterkreuz). Instituted on 11 February 1759. Type VII. (1914-1918 Issue). A gilded silver Maltese cross pattée with white enameled arms, the obverse with a central white enameled medallion with a green enameled laurel wreath, surrounded by a broad blue enameled ring, inscribed FURCHTLOS UND TREW (FEARLESS AND LOYAL), the reverse with a central white enameled medallion, bearing the crowned royal cipher, inscribed FURCHTLOS UND TREW (FEARLESS AND LOYAL), on a flat loop suspension from its period original ribbon, measuring 36.33 mm (w) x 40.17 mm (h), weighing 18.2 grams, with blue enamel loss on obverse,and in overall very fine condition.
