Instituted September 23, 1818 by King Wilhelm I. In silver gilt, A white enamel Maltese Cross with lions in each quadrant, the obverse medallion presents a crowned F on a white enamelled field, surrounded by a red enamel ring inscribed furchtlos und trew (Fearless and Faithful), the reverse medallion presents a crown on a white enamel field surrounded by a red enamel surround inscribed furchtlos und trew, measures 15.82mm (w) x 16.85mm (h – inclusive of integral ring), weighs 2.0 grams, enamels intact, lovely patina, extremely fine condition.
