An untouched example of a Wurttemberg Order of the Crown Grand Cross Breast Star; silver eight-pointed star with a white enamel and solid gold Maltese cross in the center, bearing a circular medallion with the Württemberg crown within a ring of red enamels; surrounded by a broad ring of red enamels, inscribed in gold lettering “Furchtlos und trew” (German - Fearless and Loyal); the reverse plain, with a vertical pinback and functional hinge/catch assembly; measuring 80.96 mm (w) x 81.62 mm (h); weighing 56.2 grams; an untouched example with attractive old patina from age; in overall near mint condition. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
