Germany, Heer. A Pair of II Pattern Tropical Breeches
(Heer Tropen Stiefelhose). A very well-preserved pair of Heer second pattern tropical breeches, constructed of an olive/khaki-tan cotton twill. The waistband features an integrated belt, consisting of a heavy cotton twill strap set through a hollow channel, with both ends emanating at the front. The left side features magnetic metal attachment claws for an adjustable fit, flanked by a single belt loop. Also affixed to the waistband are two reverse straps which descend into the interior for the accommodation of optional suspenders. Each leg features a side pocket set into the upper thigh, both opening with reinforced diagonal flaps. There is an additional small horizontal slit set into the upper front right leg, as well as a single back pocket also located on the upper right leg and closing with a zink button and horizontal flap. The breeches feature a French fly, closing with six zink buttons hidden by the exterior material. Each ankle is trimmed with a dark grey cotton-rayon blended reinforcement with two drawstrings for a flush fit. The interior of the waistband features a partially cotton twill liner with a reverse loop for suspension when not in use. Fully unmarked, the breeches measure approximately 390 mm across the waist, with an inseam of 330 mm, and an overall length of 900 mm. With only minor signs of wear, the breeches are in an overall extremely fine condition.
