Germany, Heer. A Set of Riding Breeches

(Heer Stiefelhose). A set of Heer riding breeches, constructed of a slate-grey wool twill. The waistband features seven belt loops, as well as an integrated belt system consisting of two side straps adjusted with functional magnetic metal buckles. The reverse of the waistband also features two pebbled aluminum buttons for the accommodation of optional suspenders. Dual diagonal side pockets are set into the front of the upper legs, while two additional pockets are located at the reverse, each opening with scalloped horizontal flaps with reinforced buttonholes meeting bakelite buttons. There is an additional small pocket set into the upper right front leg. The breeches feature a French fly, closing with three bakelite buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left side, topped with an additional magnetic metal clasp. The seat of the breeches is reinforced with a two-piece leather liner which extends through the inner parts of the thighs and finishes at the shins. Each ankle features a vertical slit closed with a functional non-ferrous metal zipper. The interior bears a partial grey rayon liner throughout the waistband, which also has an integral suspension loop set into the reverse, with four bakelite buttons affixed to the front. Fully unmarked, the breeches measure approximately 430 mm across the waist, with an inseam of 300 mm, and an overall leg length of 890 mm. Sporadic holes consistent with mothing are evident throughout the exterior wool, and there is some oxidation of the metal features. The trousers are in an overall very fine condition.
