Germany, Heer. An Infantry Enlisted Personnel M44 Field Blouse
(Feldbluse M44 für Männer der Infanterie). An extremely well-preserved Heer Infantry Enlisted Personnel M44 field blouse, constructed of field-grey wool twill. It features an integrated collar which transitions into double breast flaps. The collar is flanked on each side by a tab constructed of silver-grey machine embroidery, bisected by a central machine-embroidered dark grey band, flanked on each side by smaller bands of identical construction. Each tab measures 25 mm (w) x 70 mm (l). The shoulders are each adorned with straps, constructed of field-grey wool, trimmed with white piping, and featuring reverse wool straps. They are affixed to the shoulders with an integrated loop emanating from the tunic through which the aforementioned strap is looped, with an additional pebbled magnetic metal button on the inner edge of the tunic set through both straps. Each measures 45 mm (w) x 120 mm (l). The cuff of each sleeve features a reinforced vertical slit, one side of which bears a light brown bakelite button meeting a reinforced buttonhole on the opposite side for an adjustable fit. The blouse has dual pockets, with one on each breast flap, both opening with pebbled magnetic metal buttons meeting reinforced buttonholes on reinforced horizontal flaps. Stitched onto the tunic above the right pocket is an insignia consisting of a field-grey rayon triangle bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 95 mm (w) x 50 mm (h). The tunic closes with five pebbled buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. The interior bears dual breast pockets, crafted from a partial grey cotton liner, each opening with a light brown bakelite button meeting a reinforced buttonhole. Two integrated straps from underneath the armpits, each with four reverse reinforced eyelets for the accommodation of optional belt hooks. A single integrated cotton suspension loop is also set into the neck. The blouse is unmarked and measures approximately 460 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 585 mm and an overall body length of 555 mm. Minor signs of material fatigue are evident to the wool, including sporadic mothing, and some of the buttons have been replaced. The blouse is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
