What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Kriegsmarine. An Engineer Fregattenkapitän Summer Tunic

(Kriegsmarine Sommeruniform). This is an extremely well-preserved Kriegsmarine Engineer Fregattenkapitän summer tunic, constructed of white cotton twill. The tunic has a low-set pleated collar, while the shoulder are adorned with boards. The latter are constructed of cardboard-reinforced white wool twill bearing four rows of silver aluminum wire interwoven into a braided pattern. Each board is pinned with a gilded bronze rank pip and a gilded bronze cog wheel, indicating Engineer personnel. Both measure 35 mm (w) x 105 mm (l) and are affixed to the tunic with a fire-gilded magnetic metal button bearing a raised anchor on the inner edge, and by a wire insert meeting an analogous hole in the tunic at the outer edge. Each breast flap has two pockets opening with stylized horizontal flaps and reinforced buttonholes meeting fire-gilded bronze buttons, similarly marked with raised anchors. Pinned into the tunic above the upper right breast pocket is an insignia in the form of a gilded bronze Kriegsmarine eagle, itself unmarked and measuring 93 mm (w) x 35 mm (h). The tunic is closed by six buttons on the right breast flap, all of fire-bronze construction and bearing raised anchors. All buttons on the tunic are stamped on the reverse with “DEUTSCHE FEUERVERGOLDUNG” and a maker’s mark of “ASSMANN & SÖHNE, LÜDENSCHEID”. The interior of the tunic presents plain with the exception of an integrated suspension loop set into the collar, as well as a bronze hook on the right meeting a loop on the left. The tunic is unmarked and measures approximately 424 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 542 mm and an overall body length of 734 mm. Minor soiling is evident to the exterior, but it is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition.
