Germany, Luftwaffe. A Flight Personnel Oberleutnant Service Blouse, by Klara Krappen

(Luftwaffe Fliegerbluse für Oberleutnant). An extremely well-preserved Luftwaffe Flight Personnel Oberleutnant service blouse, constructed of dark grey wool. It features a turned-down collar, transitioning into double breast flaps, trimmed along the outer edge with twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire piping. The collar is flanked by tabs, each constructed of golden-yellow wool with buckram cores, trimmed with twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire piping, and bearing two hand-embroidered silver aluminum wire gulls set above oak wreaths of identical construction. Each tab measures 40 mm (w) x 60 mm (l) overall. The shoulders are each adorned with boards, both constructed of cardboard-reinforced golden-yellow wool, topped by four bands of silver aluminum wire piping, and pinned with a single silvered rank pip. Each measuring 32 mm (w) x 105 mm (l), the boards are attached with machine stitching at the outer edge and with a pebbled magnetic metal button on the inner edge. Stitched onto the upper left breast is an insignia consisting of a grey-blue wool backer bearing a hand-embroidered silver aluminum wire Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 80 mm (w) x 45 mm (h) overall. Set into the left flap are two vertically-arranged threaded loops, with a single set of horizontally-arranged threaded loops, accommodating decorations with vertical and horizontal pinbacks, respectively. Each breast flap also features a single pocket, both located at the lower half and opening with reinforced horizontal slits. The blouse closes with four bakelite buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. The interior is fully encompassed by a dark grey rayon liner, which transitions into a pinstripe design through the arms. There is a single pocket located at the upper left breast flap, on top of which is stitched a manufacturer’s label reading “KLARA KRAPPEN, WERKSTÄTTE FÜR BEKLEIDUNG, BAMBERG”. It measures approximately 480 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 580 mm, and an overall body length of 660 mm. With only minor wear evident, the blouse is in an extremely fine condition.
