Germany, SS. An Unissued Waffen-SS Assault Gun Wrap
(Waffen-SS Sturmgeschützjacke). A rare and unissued Waffen-SS assault gun wrap, constructed of a late-war field-grey wool blend. It features a turn-down collar, demonstrating no evidence of tab removal, which transitions into double breast lapels. The shoulders are flanked by integral loops for the accommodation of straps, but are absent the accompanying buttons on the inner edge. The cuff of each sleeve features a reinforced vertical slit, closing with a grey bakelite button meeting a hidden, reinforced buttonhole set into a rayon liner. Stitched onto the left shoulder with unmistakable factory-original machine embroidery is an insignia consisting of a grey wool base bearing a SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 90 mm (w) x 44 mm (h). The right breast flap features nine grey bakelite buttons of various sizes, in turn meeting an equal number of partially-hidden and reinforced buttonholes on the left flap for flush closure. The interior features partial slate-grey herringbone twill (HBT) liners set into the breast flaps, complete with drawstring belts and additional straps featuring eyelets for optional belt hangers. The left side features a hidden integrated pocket, and is stamped with size dimensions in black ink. The wrap is otherwise unmarked and, when folded flat, measures approximately 440 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 585 mm, and an overall body length of 550 mm. It demonstrates only minor issues consistent with age and storage, including two scarcely-visible holes to the lower back, as well as some fatigue of the right side of the interior liner. This rare and unissued assault gun wrap is in an overall extremely fine condition.
