A Pair of 1944 Luftwaffe Airman's Flight Boots
Upper of each boot in a smooth finished black leather, the top of each shaft with black dyed suede panels, full-length functioning metal zipper closure on the inside leg, each with a pull tab marked "ZIPP" fronting a lightning bolt on one side and "D.R.P." on the other side, each pull tab with an additional leather strap fed through it and tied in a knot, a white cloth manufacturer's label stitched in place on the support panel behind the zipper just inside the opening at the top of the boot, the label inscribed "RB Nr. 0/0344/0005" on the right boot but is missing on the left boot, while both labels are dated "29 4 44" (April 29, 1944), two-piece adjustable strap with magnetic metal buckle at the top of the shaft by the opening on the outside leg, the facing inside leg with a tab that overlays the zipper and has a snap closure, the knob on the receiving snap missing on the left boot, two-piece adjustable angled ankle straps with magnetic metal buckles that carry from the inside heel and finish on the outside of the boot, thick rubber sole with a deep tread, marked twice with the European size "43/44" (U.S. size 9.5-10), maker marked "Continental Berghaken-Prahl", with a graphic marked with the stylized letters "SG" inside a left hand flanked by the letters "W" and "O" at the base of the hand, the sole heavily-stitched to the bottom of the boot and finished with three nails through the sizing and maker marked area, inside lined in a thick white shearling for warmth and comfort, the soles measuring 110 mm x 315 mm, the boots measuring 400 mm in height, scattered surface rust on the metal buckles, the soles with very little wear, the leathers remaining soft and pliable, with very little crazing, both boots without holes. Very fine.
