(Schutzpolizei Waffenrock und Hose). This is an extremely well-preserved Schutzpolizei Oberwachtmeister uniform, consisting of a tunic and trousers. The former is constructed of field-grey wool, and features a dark brown collar fully trimmed with Schutzpolizei-green piping. The collar is flanked on each side by tabs constructed of green cotton twill, trimmed with twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire piping, and bearing dual machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire insignia bisected by green threaded bands. Each tab measures 35 mm (w) x 70 mm (l). The shoulders are adorned with boards, constructed of cardboard-reinforced green wool, bearing dual bands of silver aluminum wire piping interspersed with black threading, around dual bands of brown threaded piping. The boards each measure 35 mm (w) x 105 mm (l) and are attached to the tunic with machine stitching at the outer edge and by a pebbled magnetic metal button on the inner edge. The cuff of each sleeve is constructed of dark brown wool, trimmed at the top with green piping, and bears dual reinforced buttonholes meeting pebbled magnetic metal buttons with an additional brown bakelite button. Stitched onto the upper left arm is a Schutzpolizei insignia consisting of a field-grey wool oval bearing a machine-embroidered green-threaded Ordnungspolizei eagle clutching a wreathed black mobile swastika. The insignia measures 90 mm (w) x 95 mm (h). Each breast flap has two pockets, opening with stylized horizontal flaps bearing reinforced buttonholes meeting pebbled magnetic metal buttons. The tunic is closed by eight magnetic metal buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. The interior features a complete grey rayon liner, transitioning into a pinstripe design through the arms. Two integrated straps emanate from underneath each armpit, both bearing six vertically-arranged unspoiled eyelets. A single interior pocket is located at the upper left breast, the exterior of which is stamped with a manufacture date of “1943”, while the upper right breast features size stamps of “48, 102, 42, 70, 90, 64, 5”. The interior features complete with dual metal hooks on the right interior collar meeting an equal number of loops on the left interior, facilitating a flush fit with the wearer’s neck. The tunic measures 43.5 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 59 cm and an overall body length of 69.5 cm. Some of the buttons have been replaced or reattached, with slight material fatigue evident to the exterior and some soiling visible on the interior. The tunic is in an overall better than very fine condition.
It is accompanied by its period original trousers, similarly constructed of field-grey wool. The waistband bears eight dark grey bakelite buttons, while the fly is closed by five buttons of identical construction meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes. The reverse features a belt in the form of dual integrated wool straps, with one end bearing a magnetic metal buckle fastening on to its opposite end. The trousers are flanked by dual side pockets opening with reinforced vertical slits, and the exterior features are completed by a band of Schutzpolizei-green piping extending the length of each leg. The interior features a partial liner constructed of dark grey cotton, with the waistband bearing a manufacture date of “1942”. An integrated suspension loop is located at the reverse. The trousers measure 41 cm across the waist, with an inseam of 36 cm and an overall length of 111 cm. Slight mothing and material fatigue is evident to the exterior, but the trousers are in an overall better than very fine condition.
