A Rare Pair of Waffen-SS Tropical Cavalry Riding Boots
This is a pair of very well preserved Waffen-SS Tropical Deutsches Afrikakorps Cavalry Riding Boots. The uppers are crafted out of khaki canvas on the outside-facing side, and honey-brown leather on the inside facing side, fastened together by a 20 mm wide double-stitched tab in the front and back. On the top of the uppers are eight eyelets with brown shoestring, with the aglets fully intact, fed through the holes for tightness adjustment. The inside of the boots feature 20 mm wide brown leather trim on the top of the boot-hole for comfort, as well as two 60 x 40 mm double-stitched leather pull straps, attached to a black canvas tab of the same size to pull up the boot. The core of each boot is crafted out of two pieces of brown leather, double-stitched to the canvas upper. The sole and heel are also crafted out of stiff leather, attached to the boot via steel nails and pressed leather dowels. The heel clips are fully intact and crafted out of thick and stiff brown leather. The boots are maker marked “VA 103/41” with SS runes on each sole, and “30-6” on each piece of the inside leather trim, and measure 294 mm in length (EU size 41, US size 8-8.5), with 450 mm high uppers. The boots are overall very well preserved and fully intact. They convey some signs of age and wear and are slightly mildew. Near very fine condition. (C:100)
