Germany, SS. An M44 Oak Leaf B Pattern Reversible Camouflage Drill Jacket
(Waffen-SS M44 Tarnjacke). A scarce Waffen-SS reversible camouflage drill jacket, constructed of a weatherproof cotton duck cloth. The exterior of the jacket is dyed in a classic Oak Leaf B pattern summer camouflage with a mottle consisting of a predominantly medium brown base overlaid by irregular shapes of light and dark green. The reverse is dyed in an analogous autumn pattern consisting of a medium brown base overlaid by irregular shapes of dark and light brown. It features a turned down collar, with the summer side featuring loops around the shoulders for the insertion of optional vegetation. The summer side also features dual side pockets, closing with vertical flaps. It closes with six pebbled buttons on the right flap (with five constructed of zink and one replacement button of magnetic metal) meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. Unmarked, the jacket measures approximately 50 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 54 cm, and an overall body length of 59 cm. The jacket demonstrates consistent material fatigue throughout, including hole and tears to the arms, and the removal of the autumn side features, possibly consistent with postwar use as outdoor or hunting gear. This experienced jacket remains in a very fine condition.
