Protection Police "Schutzpolizei" Plaque (two-piece construction, insignia in bronze with a copper-coloured gilt and red, yellow and black enamels, lacquered finish, mounted to a large shield-shaped base in silvered bronze with forest green enamels, illustrating the German Democratic Republic coat-of-arms in the centre and inscribed "SCHUTZPOLIZEI" (Protection Police) above, measuring 73 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), light contact, in its hardshelled case of issue, forest green pebbled exterior, inside lid in a white satin-like material and exhibiting the impression of the centrepiece badge, the base in white felt and incorporating a recessed medal bed, measuring 107 mm (w) x 148 mm (h) x 25 mm (d), light wear and soiling evident on the exterior, light soiling in the white felt on the medal bed); and Ministry of the Interior "Ministerium des Inneren" Best Soldier Badge, primarily awarded to the barracked units of the People's Police "Volkspolizei" (in bronze gilt with red and olive green enamels, lacquered finish, illustrating the German Democratic Republic coat-of-arms on a twelve-pointed star, surrounded by the inscription "FÜR DEN SCHUTZ DER ARBEITER UND BAUERN MACHT" (For the Protection of Workers and Farmers), with a wheat sheaf at the far left and a red banner above inscribed "BESTER" (Best), measuring 35.5 mm (w) x 38 mm (h), horizontal pinback, in its plastic case of issue with slotted cardboard insert, scattered gilt wear). Very fine.
