Germany. A German Cross in Gold; 1957 Version
An extremely well preserved example of an alternative de-nazified 1957 version of a German Cross in gold; multi-piece construction in silvered tombac; with a double-overlaid sunburst pattern with eight points; the center with a denazified Iron Cross with a laurel leaf stem in place of the swastika (“Hakenkreuz”) with a stamped circular wreath impressed with oak leaves, ribbons and the introduction year (1941). The inner and outer sides of the wreath feature a thin red painted lined with a silver core in the middle; vertical pinback with four rivets on the reverse; measuring 64.20 mm (w) x 64.26 mm (h); weighing 78.8 grams; extremely fine condition.
