Germany, Federal Republic. A Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 1957 Version
(Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939-1945 issue; post-1957 reissue). Constructed of iron and nickel-silver, consisting of a Cross Patté with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed nickel-silver frame, the obverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop connecting to a suspension ring with a period original full-length neck ribbon, unmarked, measuring 48.27 mm (w) x 54.12 mm (h), weighing 29.7 grams, with some loss of finish evident to the frame, in overall near extremely fine condition.
