Germany, Federal Republic. A Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 1957 Version
(Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939-1945 issue; post-1957 reissue). Constructed of iron and neusilber, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a plated neusilber frame, the obverse bearing three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm bearing a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm bearing a reinstitution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop connecting to a suspension ring with a period original full-length neck ribbon an elasticized bands with a magnetic metal clasp, unmarked, measuring 48.26 mm (w) x 54.20 mm (h), weighing 28.1 grams, in extremely fine condition.
