Germany, Wehrmacht. A Cased Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords, 1957 Reissue

(Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern). Reinstituted 1 September 1939 (Knight’s Cross with Oak leaves and Swords instituted 28 September 1941). (1941-1945 issue; post-1957 reissue). Constructed of silver and iron, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a ribbed silver frame and a blackened iron core, the obverse with three central raised oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with a raised reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse with an initial institution date of “1813” on the six o’clock arm, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop bearing an oak leaf hanger with crossed swords, accompanied by its period original neck ribbon, unmarked, measuring 48.12 mm (w) x 54.33 mm (h), weighing 36.8 grams, also accompanied by its period original case of issue, constructed of heavy card stock with a faux black leather exterior, the interior with a white satin-type lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted and depressed black felt medal bed, opening with a functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release, functional magnetic metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 80 mm (w) x 145 mm (l) x 23 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
