Germany, Wehrmacht. A German Cross in Silver, Post-1957 Reissue
(Deutsches Kreuz in Silber). Constructed of silvered tombak, consisting of a double-overlaid sunburst pattern with eight points; the centre with a denazified War Merit Cross within a stamped circular wreath impressed with oak leaves, ribbons, and the introduction year “1941”, the inner and outer sides of the wreath feature a thin red painted line with a silver core in the middle, the reverse with a barrel hinge and narrow banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, with four visible rivets holding the obverse features in place, unmarked, measuring 64.54 mm (w) x 64.77 mm (h), weighing 77.8 grams, in better than very fine condition.
