A near mint very early manufactured and issued 1957 Version German Cross in Gold, likely of the first release of 1957 awards, in silvered and gilded tombac; with double-overlaid sunburst pattern with eight points; the centre with a denazified Iron Cross exhibiting an oak leaf cluster in place of the swastika (“Hakenkreuz”) with a stamped circular wreath impressed with oak leaves, ribbons, and the introduction year (1941). The inner and outer sides of the wreath feature a thin red enameled line with a silver core in the middle; vertical pinback with four rivets on the reverse; measuring 64.11 mm (w) x 64.08 mm (h); weighing 50.2 grams. Accompanied by its presentation case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed paper, with a black faux leather (leatherette exterior); lined interior lid (the liner has started to come loose - fixable), with a slotted medal bed, with a severed exterior hinge, but the hinge still held together by an internal hinge; measuring 106 mm (w) x 106 mm (h); in overall near mint condition.
