An example of an Iron Cross 1939 First Class - alternate de-nazified version; consisting of a white metal cross pattee of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a white metal ribbed border; the obverse with a raised three-pointed stem of oak leaves with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm; the reverse plain, with a vertical banjo style pinback, a barrel hinge, and a flat wire catch; unmarked; measuring 44.07 mm x 43.93 mm; weighing 16.5 grams; a gently worn example in overall very fine condition.
