Germany, Federal Republic. A German Cross in Gold, 1957 Version
(Deutsches Kreuz in Gold). Constructed of a gilded and silvered bronze alloy, the obverse consisting of a double-overlaid sunburst pattern with eight points, the obverse with a silvered disc bearing a 1957 version of the Iron Cross, within a stamped gilded circular oak leaf wreath overlaid with ribbons and bearing an introduction year of “1941” at the bottom”, the inner and outer borders of the wreath are lined with red enameled bands, the reverse with four visible rivets securing the obverse features in place, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 64.18 mm (w) x 64.15 mm (h), weighing 75.4 grams, in extremely fine condition.
