Germany, Federal Republic. A Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, 1957 Version
(Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub). Constructed of silver with a non-magnetic metal alloy, consisting of a Cross Pattée with blackened non-magnetic metal core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop connecting to a silver Oak Leaf clasp, the reverse with malleable attachment prongs retaining a period original shortened length of neck ribbon, the reverse of the clasp stamped with a silver content number of “900”, the cross measuring 48.57 mm (w) x 54.63 mm (h), the clasp measuring 20.12 mm (w) x 19.34 mm (h), weighing 32.9 grams, with minor loss of finish visible to the core, in near extremely fine condition.
