Germany, Federal Republic. A Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords, and Case, 1957 Version in Silver
(Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub, Schwertern, und Etui). Constructed of silver with a non-magnetic metal alloy, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened non-magnetic core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop connecting to an Oak Leaves and Swords clasp, with an intact one-piece loop retaining an original full-length neck ribbon, the reverse of both the twelve o’clock arm and clasp stamped with silver content numbers of “800”, the cross measuring 48.36 mm (w) x 54.15 mm (h), weighing the clasp measuring 25.76 mm (w) x 28.22 mm (h), weighing 40.2 grams overall, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a depressed black felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 80 mm (w) x 145 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), a high-quality exhibition example in extremely fine condition.
