Germany, Federal Republic (West Germany). An Army Enlisted Man's Belt with Buckle
Belt buckle in silvered bronze alloy, illustrating the left-facing Federal Republic of Germany eagle, surrounded by the inscription "EINIGKEIT RECHT FREIHEIT" (Unity Law Freedom), stamped "54 - 43" and maker marked with the Schmolle and Company insignia on its reverse lip, measuring 67.7 mm (h) x 53 mm (h). The buckle is attached to the leather belt and the accompanying tongue via dual prongs on its reverse. The belt has a black smooth-finished upper and a light brown smooth-finished underside, emboss stamped "100" and "86461", along with being manufacturer stamped in black ink "Erich Liebe / Gerh-Hauptmann-Str. 9 / 8858 Neuberg/Do." and hand inscribed with the initials "L B" on the underside on the right end. The tongue incorporates seven rows of die-holes, in pairs and designed to be placed through the prongs for length adjustment. It is also manufactured stamped "Erich Liebe / Gerh-Hauptmann-Str. 9 / 8858 Neuberg/Do." in black ink on the tab. The left end has a 100 mm long portion folded over to the reverse and is stitched in place, along with housing the receiving clip for the buckle, the clip maker marked with Schmolle and Company insignia. The belt measures 50 mm in width x 1,000 mm in length, not including the portion that folds around to the reverse on the left end. It exhibits scattered greening on the buckle and the upper of the belt, the buckle retaining detailing in the eagle, text and the pebbled background, the belt with its stitching intact and exhibiting very little wear. Better than very fine.
