Germany, Olympics. A 1936 Kiel Sailing Event Car Plaquette by M. Hansen
This is a nicely preserved 1936 Olympics car plaque for the Kiel sailing competition held in Kiel. The plaque is constructed of silvered bronze with black and red enamels. The obverse depicts the Olympic symbol in the center, along with “Kiel 1936”, and two regattas and five fish. The reverse is maker marked “M. Hansen, Kiel”, but otherwise left blank. Four holes in each corner of the plaque for car attachment approximately 6 mm from the edge. Overall, the plaque measures 68 mm x 68 mm, and is generally in very fine condition, with the black enamel on the bottom right corner having been previously repaired.
