Germany, Third Reich. A Rare 1936 Berlin Olympics Flag
(Olympische Sommerspiele 1936 Fahne). A rare and extremely well-preserved 1936 Berlin Olympics flag, constructed of a weatherproof white cotton twill material, the bearing double-sided printed Olympic rings executed in full colour, the corners reinforced with machine-embroidered darts, the hoist edge reinforced with an additional layer of white cotton twill with a hollow channel through which is looped a drawstring constructed of sturdy rope, the hoist edge also bearing a black ink inscription of “REICHSSPORTFELD BERLIN”, measuring 196 cm (w) x 113 cm (h), with only minor discolouration and material fatigue in the form of sporadic small holes, a rare example of an official flag flown at the Reichssportfeld during the 1936 Berlin Olympics in near extremely fine condition.
