Germany, Third Reich. An Olympic Games Commemorative Medal
(Deutsche Olympia-Erinnerungsmedaille). Constructed of magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a central raised Olympic column, topped by rings, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by a date of “1936”, the reverse bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTVOLLE MITARBEIT BEI DEN OLYMPISCHEN SPIELEN 1936” (“FOR MERITORIOUS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES 1936”), unmarked, measuring 37.24 mm in diameter, weighing 18.0 grams, in very fine condition.
