Germany. A Grouping of Four Medals, Awards, and Decorations
A grouping of four third reich period German medals, awards, and decorations, consisting of 1) A War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern). A Maltese cross constructed of bronzed zink; on loop for suspension; with a shortened period original ribbon; the obverse with crossed swords between the arms of the cross and a circular raised border of oak leaves on the obverse with a raised mobile swastika in the center; the reverse with a circular raised border of oak leaves bearing the institution date “1939” in raised numbering; measuring 47.80 mm (w) x 47.82 mm (h); weighing 18.2 grams. 2) A Commemorative Sudetenland Medal; a round medal constructed of bronzed metal alloy; on loop for suspension; with its shortened period original ribbon; the obverse with two raised male figures, the one on the right bearing the German flag in his left hand, with his right hand placed around the shoulders of the figure on the left, with broken chains around his right arm (symbolic of the liberation of the Sudeten German from Czechoslovak oppression), with the German eagle directly below; the reverse with the date “1. Oktober 1938” centrally and circumscribed “Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer” (One People, One Country, One Leader); measuring 32.15 mm in diameter; weighing 15.1 grams. 3) A Miniature Cross of the German Mother; constructed of silvered aluminum with black, white, and blue enamels; suspended from a small ladies ribbon; measuring 16.23 mm (w) x 5.09 mm (h). 4) A Front Line Driver’s Badge, Silver Grade; constructed of silvered zink; missing its two prongs; depicting a laurel leaf wreath and a steering wheel; missing its wool backer; measuring 39 mm (w) x 44 mm (h). In overall better than very fine condition.
