Germany. A Grouping of Three Medals, Awards, and Decorations
A grouping of three German third reich period medals, awards, and decorations, consisting of 1) A War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern); a Maltese cross in bronzed tombak; on loop for suspension (unmarked); with a correct replacement ribbon; the obverse with crossed swords between the arms of the cross and a circular raised border of oak leaves on the obverse with a raised mobile swastika in the center; the reverse with a circular raised border of oak leaves bearing the institution date “1939” in raised numbering; measuring 48.39 mm (w) x 48.27 mm (h); weighing 23.6 grams; with what appears to be a stain from a permanent marker on the lower of the reverse. 2) A War Merit Medal; a round medal constructed of bronze; the obverse depicting a War Merit Cross; the reverse inscribed “Für Kriegsverdienst 1939” (German - For war merit); on a loop for suspension from its correct replacement ribbon. 3) A Romanian “Crusade Against Communism” Medal; constructed of gilt bronze; on a loop for suspension; the obverse with a hand holding a sword vertically with sun rays to the left and right of the hilt, and circumscribed “1941” as well as “Cruciada Importava Comunismului” (Crusade against Communism); the reverse with a portrait of a female facing towards the left and circumscribed “Romania Recunoscatoare” (Romania Recognisant); measuring 31.69 mm in diameter; in overall fine condition.
