Germany. A Lot of Decorations
(Deutsches Abzeichen). A lot of three decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, the suspension loop maker marked “FR.” for Gebrüder Friedländer, Berlin, measuring 44.00 mm (w) x 48.07 mm (h), weighing 19.6 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition; a Driver’s Proficiency Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, around a central steering wheel, retaining a magnetic metal backplate, measuring 40 mm (w) x 45 mm (h), accompanied by its period original package of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the exterior bearing a stamped inscription of “KRAFTFAHRBEWÄHRUNGS-ABZEICHEN BRONZE”, with a maker’s mark of “RUDOLF SOUVAL, WIEN”, measuring 60 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), the badge is missing its wool liner, in overall very fine condition, and; a Civil Service 25-Year Faithful Service Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, with the quadrants joined by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central black swastika, the reverse bearing a raised central inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 41.32 mm (w) x 46.26 mm (h), weighing 21.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of red card stock, the lid bearing a silver embossed number “25” within a cogwheel, the interior with a maroon felt liner, unmarked, measuring 48 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 15 mm (h), some loss of finish and material fatigue are evident to the cross and case, respectively, in overall better than very fine condition.
