Germany. A Mixed Lot of Medals
(Medaillen). A mixed lot of five medals, including an Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”) above crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, unmarked, measuring 35.90 mm (w) x 44.81 mm (h), weighing 21.1 grams, in extremely fine condition; an Anschluss Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central date of “13. MÄRZ 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), unmarked, measuring 32.20 mm in diameter, weighing 12.1 grams, with loss of finish throughout, in very fine condition; an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the obverse bearing central wreathed dates “1914-1918”, the reverse marked “ERK” for an unidentified maker, measuring 38.03 mm (w) x 43.07 mm (h), weighing 14.9 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition; an Honour Cross of the German Mother, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Latin Cross with its arms joined through the quadrants by stylized sun rays, the obverse with blue and white enameled arms, with a central white enameled disc bearing a black swastika, circumscribed by a raised inscription of “DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER” (“TO THE GERMAN MOTHER”), the reverse bearing an etched institution date of “16. DEZEMBER 1938” and a signature of the Führer, unmarked, measuring 36.05 mm (w) x 46.00 mm (h), weighing 12.6 grams, in extremely fine condition, and; a Federal German Republic Medal of Merit, constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 37.91 mm in diameter, weighing 25.8 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
