Germany, Heer. Four Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Medals, Awards, and Decorations
A collection of three medals, awards, and decorations, consisting of 1) A War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern). A Maltese cross in bronze, on loop for suspension (unmarked); with a period original ribbon, the the obverse with crossed swords between the arms of the cross and a circular raised border of oak leaves on the obverse with a raised mobile swastika in the center, the reverse with a circular raised border of oak leaves bearing the institution date “1939” in raised numbering; measuring 48.32 mm (w) x 48.18 mm (h), weighing 22.6 grams. 2) An Eastern People’s Bravery Decoration Second Class in Silver (Tapferkeitsauzeichnung für Angehörige der Ostvölker 2. Klasse), constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of eight-pointed silver star with a six-leaved rosette, surrounded by a laurel wreath tied together at the bottom via a ribbon, the reverse plain, on a loop for suspension from its period original ribbon featuring a horizontal pinback, measuring 40.16 mm (w) x 44.97 m (h), weighing 14.3 grams. 3) An Entry into the Sudetenland Commemorative Medal (Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. October 1938). A circular bronzed medal; on loop for suspension; with a correct replacement ribbon; the obverse with two raised male figures, the one on the right bearing the German flag in his left hand, with his right hand placed around the shoulders of the figure on the left, with broken chains around his right arm (symbolic of the liberation of the Sudeten German from Czechoslovak oppression), with the German eagle directly below; the reverse with the date “1. Oktober 1938” centrally and circumscribed “Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer” (One People, One Country, One Leader); measuring 32.07 mm in diameter, weighing 14.3 grams. 4) A War Merit Medal (Verdienstmedaille). Constructed of bronze, the obverse depicting a War Merit Cross First Class without Swords, the reverse inscribed “FÜR KRIEGSVERDIENST” (For War Merit 1939), on a loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, measuring 32.05 mm in diameter, weighing 14.5 grams. In overall good condition.
